Biography
For the last 20 years Kamini has created a dynamic body of teachings which are an exciting and infinitely usable combination of western psychology and eastern philosophy. She has brought her expertise into the business world with such companies as Sony, Kellogg’s and Mars Candy Company as well as the Department of Defense and the Internal Revenue Service of the Netherlands. Kamini also served as Director of Wellness at Yarrow, an executive retreat center in Michigan and on faculty of the Foxhollow Leadership Center.
Her hands-on, experiential style of teaching has been welcomed in over 10 countries around the world including England, Holland, Belgium, France, Portugal, Turkey, Iceland, Italy, Jamaica, The Bahamas, and throughout the United States and Canada.
Kamini is now the Director of Programs for the Amrit Yoga Institute, which she runs in conjunction with her brother, Malay, and father, Yogi Amrit Desai - founder of Kripalu Center, Kripalu Yoga, Amrit Yoga®, and The Amrit Method® of Yoga Nidra . She established the current Amrit Yoga Teacher Training curriculum and is the Director of the Level I and II Yoga Teacher Training Programs. In addition to her degree from Smith College and PhD from La Salle University, Kamini is certified in yoga instruction, contact partner yoga, yoga therapy, massage therapy, danskinetics, holistic health education, and counseling.
